Planning Process

Let’s begin…

We know that traditionally financial services can appear complicated and confusing. At Metric Wealth we aim to be different. We are transparent about the entire planning process and about our costs.

We aren’t the most expensive and trust us - you wouldn’t want the cheapest.

1. Contact

Let us know who you are and what’s on your mind.
If we think we can help, we’ll arrange a discovery meeting, or we’ll point you in the direction you need to get further information to answer your query.

2. Discovery Meeting

Let us buy you a coffee.

This is an initial meeting to see if we think we’ll work well together. After all, this is a two-way process and for our partnership to run smoothly, we need to both feel like we’re a good ‘match’ before we get started.

We'll ask questions about what interests you, what worries you and what success looks like to you and your family. You’ll do most of the talking, we’re there to take it in and understand exactly what is important to you.

Once we're comfortable moving forward together, we'll talk through the next steps towards creating your bespoke Financial Masterplan.

Cost: The Discovery Meeting is at our expense.

3. Creating your Financial Masterplan

Now it’s over to us

We take everything we know about you to build a full and clear picture of your situation and create a visual summary that is fully bespoke to you.

We’ll look under the bonnet of all your current savings and investments to see how they match with your long term ambitions. This will highlight the strengths and weaknesses of your current position and form the basis of our next meeting.

Every Financial Masterplan is built with our sophisticated forecasting software and is bespoke to you.

At this stage we aren’t worried about the detail of individual products, just your current direction of travel.

In our next meeting, we will talk through all the potential journeys we’ve identified and take your input onboard to refine the plan, ensuring you are fully comfortable with our summaries and suggestions.

We’ll test different scenarios to show you the different routes you could take to achieving the life goals we’ve identified.

We’ll also identify shortfalls in the policies you have to protect you, such as life and income protection.

You’ll see the benefits and opportunities a well-crafted Masterplan can give you and proceed to implement the ideas.

Cost: There is a cost of $1000 for an Individual or $1500 for a couple to research & build the Masterplan. The plan is yours to keep. This cost also includes the follow up Strategy Meeting where we’ll discuss the plan and the different ways for you to proceed.

4. Strategy & Implementation

It’s Go time

The next step is to provide you with a detailed plan, outlining which investments, products and strategies we recommend to enable you to reach your objectives.

The cost of implementation, transferring and establishment of new policies will vary but these are fully disclosed in your recommendations. In most cases, we can save you significant ongoing costs by smart use of the investment structures available to us.

We’ll liaise with your existing providers and carefully monitor the initial set up and establishment of all our recommendations. Other than signing paperwork, we’ll do our best to take care of all the implementation process for you.

We’ll get you heading in the right direction, then ensure we keep you on course.

Cost: The implementation cost will vary, based on complexity of the advice and the time to implement. However, we’ll provide an all in quote for this before commencing work. Some or all of your costs can be paid from your investments or super, depending on the advice given.

Typical implementation cost is between $500 - $2000.

5. Tracking and Review

This is by far the most important stage.

No plane ever sets off on a flight without having to adjust it’s course throughout the journey. We will partner with you throughout your whole life, ensuring you achieve all of your financial and life goals, while avoiding any financial mistakes.

Above all, we’ll educate you so that you understand the strategies and investments we use. If you can sleep easily at night, we can be happy with our work.

All clients receive:

  • Unlimited emails, phone calls and questions

  • A set annual meeting to review your Financial Masterplan and plan for the year ahead

  • Ad hoc meetings as required.

  • Financial coaching

  • Second opinion service on any jobs, projects or investment opportunities presented to you.

  • All ongoing advice and recommendations. We don’t charge for additional advice or investment like typical advisers.

  • Our complete care and attention. We deliberately work with a smaller number of clients and do not take on every person that approaches us. This enables us to know your complete family situation and arrange plans that work for you.

Cost:

We have a simple ongoing cost structure for our ongoing service of 1.00% per annum on the investments we advise on (minimum of $5,000 p.a) This percentage reduces on larger portfolios.

Some or all of your cost may be paid from your Super, if suitable.

Example: Stephen has a Super worth $300,000 and also has $300,000 in an investment account (non-Super.)

This is a total of $600,000 of investments.

He initially pays $250 per month from each account. The costs paid from their investments outside Super are tax deductible.

If you would like an example for your own circumstances, email hello@metricwealth.com and we’ll get back to you within 24 hours.

FAQs

Where do the meetings take place?

Wherever you’re comfortable. Face to face at your home, office, a favourite café or we’ll arrange a meeting room in a convenient location.

Alternatively, we can cover most meetings via Zoom or by phone.

If I become an ongoing client, am I locked into a contract?

Our ongoing service is on renewable 12 month contracts, which can be cancelled with one call or email within 24 hours. We don’t make it as hard as cancelling Foxtel!
We only ask that if you were to leave in the first year, we would invoice for the remainder of the 12 months. (No one has done this so far and we hope no one would ever want to!)

What if I only need a one off piece of advice?

If you have a single area you wish to discuss we can arrange a one off fee for advice.

Are fees tax deductible?

Ongoing service fees relating to investments outside of Super may be tax deductible. We will work with your accountant if needed to ensure you get the maximum deduction.
